I then will ...ehm... borrow *g* a "signup" document from another network
and create an application form which could be packed together with the general network information, an ANSI ad and the QwK instructions into a "infopack" - if you agree.

The sub 'Buy&Sell' does not play nice with webservers (ie: runemaster/webv4) as the & is a special character so it doies not work with webv4 forums ... just saying (again)

Hmm, not sure how to change that without breaking the existing users. LOikely the web interface should not be converting those kinds of things. I can see what I can do though...

I've done it and updated the wn_subs.txt file but for QWK feeds you should just be able to edit the long & short names for the board in your scfg message areas setup. No idea how you change it for FTN...

QWK users - be sure you don't change the QWK or other QWK fields in that message area. Only change the first two fields...

This depends highly on the BBS software.
I'm using OpenXP for reading/writing mails, here I just had to rename the areas.
The only problem was that my BBS already had created packages with the old names, so I also got messages for the old names :)

But as of today there is only me and paulie420 who used the old names.
Solaris will be connected with the new names, so this won't be a big
problem.

If my test message goes through to your BBS, also the new FTN names with
the WEED_ prefix do work.

I just checked it again in my webv4 instance.
It still does not work, the link generated by webv4 is:
... /?page=001-forum.ssjs&sub=weednet_buy&sell

The configuration in SCFG has these names:

Long Name Buy and Sell
Short Name Buy and Sell
QWK Name BUY&SELL
Internal Code WEEDNET_BUY&SELL
Newsgroup Name WEED_BUY_SELL

So, Long & Short Name have been updated, but the problem seems to be the "Internal Code".
By the way: The "Newsgroup Name" is the FTN name which gets exported to AREAS.BBS and then to the EchoList (weednet.na in the InfoPack).

So I guess, the Long/Short Name can contain Spaces or &, but the Internal Code shouldn't.
I've looked in DOVE-Net, there are also areas with Spaces in the Long/
Short Names, but the Internal Code does not have Spaces or other special characters.

I would recommend to rename the Internal Code to WEEDNET_BUYSELL (and
maybe the QWK Name to BUYSELL, I don't know).
The other names could stay as they are.

Well, the webserver is not changing anything, the web forum list scripts (runemaster included) simply read the subs name (ie Buy&Sell) and pushes it to an inline link. In HTML the & is a delimitor for variable names, so in this case a web browser will interpret ?page=001-forum.ssjs&sub=buy&sell as ?page = 001-forum.ssjs & (varibale) sub=buy & (variable) sell=

Hi, Marisag, yes, that, or anything similar. I apologize, I do not intend to tell you how to name the message subs in your network. I know most people either use an offline mailreader; nntp; the bbs, etc. Personally I prefer to use the BBS webinterface to read/post messages and that paticular sub was not being displayed at all :(

The area name is fine for , i think that web server scripts must be
fixed to show correctly the names
just convert the html entities .
