I ran across this article where researchers at Cornell are studying the imapcts of recreational use against prescriptions and their side effects.
https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/recreational-marijuana-may-reduce-demand-f or-prescription-drugs-study-finds-041922.html
The study the above article is citing is here:
https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2022/04/recreational-marijuana-access-reduces- demand-prescription-drugs
The first two paragraphs of the cited article:
-----
Legalization of recreational marijuana reduces demand for costly prescription drugs through state Medicaid programs, according to an analysis by a Cornell researcher and a collaborator.
When states legalize marijuana, the volume of prescriptions within the drug classes that align with the medical indications for pain, depression, anxiety, sleep, psychosis and seizures significantly decline, the researchers found.
-----
So there it is again. I'm finding that as soon as money is attached, government will start to pay attention. The patient/medical benefits of marijuana were always present, but it wasn't until a big enough suit figured a way to attach money to it, then they will move on it.
I'm glad this is getting studied and proven out to be just what previous generations had been saying.
