• Firefox so-called Update

From Davey@2:250/1 to All on Friday, February 27, 2026 11:07:34
Another one of those updates that loses all your settings.
Last night, when I shut down Firefox, it closed 14 tabs, nothing
unusual. This morning, it performed an 'update' (really a degrade), and
on launch, it had only 4 or 5 tabs. Telling it to restore all tabs
failed, and I now have a weird combination of tabs and windows, that
don't all connect to the internet correctly. The suggested file that
was supposed to hold information on the previous setup contained only a
link to hte last time I tried to get vlc to display an rtsp source.
Oh dear, this will take some time to sort out.
    Grrrr.....

Of course you backed up your Firefox profile folder before you updated?

Unfortunately not. Usually it doesn't matter.....
    Oh well.

I know of this only because a Thunderbird update fannied with the
profile meaning it was impossible to go back to an older version of Thunderbird if you didn't like the never ending UI changes.

So I have all Mozilla stuff set to tell me there are updates but do
nothing. It gives me a chance to back up the profile then accept the
    update. Been there, been burnt.

    Sounds like a plan.

They seem to come thick and fast.
