I have installed google chrome and earth, but each time I try to do so,
I get the error that it cannot check the key. I have tried numerous
times to download the key, but it never works.
I found the note saying that the linux key is obsolete in 2023. Is
google refusing to have a valid key?
Or are they telling u tha tthey are purposely installing back doors into google-chrome/earth?

All I could get from various discussions on this topic were links or instructions for old keys.

The above key is 'new' ie alive.

I found it by using pgp dump on the old key and getting the email <linux-packages-keymaster@google.com> to search in Ub's keyserver.

The newest there is '20 and has a different email <lfbt2425@gmail.com>

The downloaded Earth rpm does install with rpm, but it complains about
the key missing or invalid. (I don't recall which now. It's been a
while) I've always told it to install anyway.

I know there's a risk involved, but Life without risk is boring. I'm a
farmer by trade, and calculating risk is part of my business. In the
overall scheme of things the sweet corn I planted yesterday is more
likely to cause trouble than Google Earth.

I have run into issues with Earth and our nvidia-current in Plasma and Wayland. Plasma under x11 works fine.

There is a problem w/ google's page about the key. Its 'direct' info is
a link to an expired key. One has to 'mess with'/parse the page and investigation to find a good unexpired key. I haven't tested whether or
not the 'new' key is satisfactory or not.

I don't know why google doesn't fix the page, and I haven't tried to communicate w/ their help (or something) about it.
