• Where might my Screen Save be saved??

From Daniel70@2:250/1 to All on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 13:26:12
I'm trying to buy tickets to a concert but, on the Credit Card details
screen, the three digit Security Code keeps getting blanked out, so my
    sale is not progressing.

When I contacted the Selling Agent and told them of my problem, they
asked for a screen shot. I've done that (I think) and tried to save the
screen shot .... and the (GIMP, I think) screen disappeared .... but
I've got no idea where or IF the image was saved.

So where might the image by saved 'normally', please.

    TIA

Open up the tool that does screen shots and check the configuration. You should be able to see where it is set
save the file. I don't know which tool you are using but
in KDE 5.x.s Spectator that is a way to go. If the
screenshot is saved in a temp file that was wiped
when you shut down you might want to set it to
    /Downloads or /Pictures. I have a screenshot directory
    created under /Pictures.

Not sure what you mean by "Getting blanked out"? Do you mean that you
enter the three digits and they are replaced by fat dots? That is
normal. they pretend that it is secret, when it is there printed on the
credit card for anyone who sees the credit card to know.
Could you not give the credit card details to the "Selling Agent"?

What error messages do you see on the screen after you entered the three
digits and then pressed the PAY (or whatever their name is for
    submitting your credit card info).

Gimp? Not sure why you opened gimp to see the image. It might nave been
Dolphin that opened the shot for you. Sceenshots are usually saved in ~/Pictures. But then it depends on what you used to take the screenshot.

No, the little screen opens with four underline dashes (Why four dots
when it knows there are only three digits!!) and, yes, as I enter the
digits they are replaced by dots.

Then the screen refreshes and the four underline dashes are back!!

(I'm om my Win7 version of SeaMonkey Suite this afternoon so just went
    and tried again. Same problem!)

Back on Linux later this evening.

I only know about Spectacle in Plasma, so if using something else I
    can't help much.

But, If you were to take another shot of something else, the Spectacle
window will come up with a button on the top row labeled "Configure."
Click on that, go to "Save" and it will tell you where it is set to save
the shots. I believe the default is the "Pictures" folder, but you can
    change that if you want.
