    There's a project on github to monitor how the various distro/s are addressing/confronting the issue.

    It doesn't address/mention Mageia 10; nor do Mag10's release notes.

    If I had to guess, if some distro doesn't 'intentionally' address the
    issue, and if it isn't a 'child' of a parent who does or doesn't address
    the issue, I might guess it is 'swimming' in the pool of age verification.

    Mag10 is a systemd distro. I think I like systemd's 'philosophy' about
    the issue. If you want, systemd can help 'you' (your system) age verify;
    if you don't want, it won't.

    As you might guess, when people attack LP about that 'involvement', he
    doesn't want to hear anything about it/ the discussion.

    I've been testing Mageia 10 as my daily driver for months, and AFAIK
    there is no automated age verification. At the moment, the Mageia
    developers are adopting a wait-and-see attitude on the whole issue.

    I am surprised to see that there is still a 32bit repo in version 10.

    Asking because around 2 years ago I asked why chromium webbrowser was no longer updated in Mageia 9, and I heard that compilation and packaging
    runs for 12 hours. Having every package in 32bit was not worth the effort.
    In version 10 this package is also missing:

    is Mageia 10 / i586 a "lightweight" distro?

    Some packages such as chromium include explicit 64 bit instructions. Getting the package
    to compile for a 32 bit cpu would require major modifications to the source code, bordering
    on a rewrite. There are also some packages that appear to build okay, but only work on the
    64 bit arch.

    The packages don't get dropped just because they take a long time to build. They get
    dropped because they don't build or even if they do get built, they don't work on that arch.

    Mageia still wants to provide it for the arch where it does work instead of dropping the
    package completely.

    Note that Mageia 10 32-bit now only supports i686.

    Support for i586 was dropped mostly because too many packages simply
    won't work without sse2 hardware unless nearly completely rewritten.
    There were other reasons as well, but that was the big one.

    It would have been nice if Mageia put in the flatpack for users, but I
    guess that would have made them responsible for fixing it when anything
    in the flatpack broke.

    That is really sad news - I am using chromium webbrowser all time for
    things like Teams meetings, because in Firefox I got interruptions over
    and over, and, not even to think about active role like presenting.

    Also, in ebay there are functions like storing bank data / 'IBAN',
    tailored for chrome / chromium / edge, and these don't work properly in Firefox as well

    I think Ubuntu was one the first distros that started with this - one of
    the reasons why I turned away from it

    I used Discover to install Chromium from Flathub into Mageia 10 (then Cauldron) months ago, mostly because my bank seems to hate Firefox, but
    also one of the vendors my business uses refuses to work with anything
    but that or Chrome. Been updated a few times since, and it's been
    working great for me.

    I possibly could have used a user agent switcher in Firefox, but it just didn't seem worth the trouble.

    Note that Chrome works on Mageia 10 and can still be downloaded from the
    Google website. So it isn't just a choice between Chromium or Firefox.
    Most of the avantages of Chromium should also be there for Chrome.
    Google does tend to stick their nose into places it does not belong more
    in the recent Chromes however-- especially trying to get you to store
    your stuff on Google's servers.

    Packaging programs for flatpak is safely outside the scope of the
    distribution maintainers.

    Re Chromium

    Mageia still wants to provide it for the arch where it does work
    instead of dropping the package completely.

    Unfortunately they have also dropped Chromium in Mageia 10 They
    claim it was too expensive ( in time and effort) to maintain in
    light of the many changes upstream was dumping into chromium. They
    say we have to use a flatpack for Chromium. I tried, and failed.
    (Ie, have it install a duplicate of a whole bunch of libraries you
    already have on your system and lots more vectors for security
    holes.)

    It would have been nice if Mageia put in the flatpack for users,
    but I guess that would have made them responsible for fixing it
    when anything in the flatpack broke.

    Nowadays, disk space is usually not a problem. I use Linux all the
    time, however, the lack of standardization in it is very annoying. If
    you don't use one of the major distributions you run the risk of
    getting frustrated because you can't find some program you need
    packaged for your distribution. In your case I see the following
    solutions:

    1 - Give it a rest and just use flatpak.

    2 - Choose some other browser (I use Brave).

    3 - Install opencode https://github.com/anomalyco/opencode and ask it
    to create the package from source.
