  • Weather file distributions

    Hello everybody!

    As you know I forward the USA weather archives that are :

    1. Daily graphic forecasts.
    2. Daily weather animations.

    Both issued by:
    University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center


    Now personally and as a pilot or just someone that is in Europe I find them of zero use as European weather is effected by other conditions along with winds aloft that makes no usable information.


    So, question knowing that you get these - Are they of any use ?

    If the answer by all is no then I will drop them but in any event I only retain
    the last three here at the moment.

    Are there others that might be more useful ?

    Personally, I only use 6 and 12 hour forecasts and even then take them with a pinch of salt as forecast winds at 2k, 5k feet are at best only useful as
    a very basic estimate for journeys - using the GPS or GNS some what more useful
    :)

    If I am not flying - I look out of the window or use the met office data.

    I think I get them but never look at them. I tend to use my own forecasts for Connemara that I generate each day. Flying a drone, I like to know what is coming up. Often thought we need a European file echo
