Hi all,
Does anyone have contact info (email/phone) for Hector Santos, of Wildcat/Santronics fame?
He's contacting me via Netmail from an invalid/unauthorized Fido
address, so I can't reply to the netmail. Have scoured the internet
the best I can but find no way to contact him. His website sucks and
is full of dead ends.
Please provide some info if you have it. Thanks.
... Gone crazy, be back later, please leave message.

Or you could send him a good ol' snail mail

or give the corporate number and see if you can get past his gate
keeper.

Yeah. I don't have a LinkedIn account, and don't want one.
Seems like it would work, doesn't it? But it doesn't. You have to be a paying customer to get past the email filter.
Or you could send him a good ol' snail mailNot too likely.
(305) 248-3204Done that, left voicemails, no return call.
Thanks for the snark, though.

Maybe...
Was it a crashmail or a routed netmail? If routed you can check the VIA lines to see who his fido uplink is, and check with the uplink what is possible. If crash, you can check your mailers log for the IP number
the connection came from, check if there's a mailer on that IP address, and with a little tinckering in your configs, you can send a crashmail
in return.
I checked here: https://nodehist.fidonet.org.ua/?address=1%3A135%2F382
The last host name for Hector was fido.winserver.com
That one doesn't resolve anymore. But winserver.com does, and there is
an active mailer on that address:
# telnet winserver.com binkp | strings
Trying 3.137.120.140...
Connected to winserver.com.

Since you are the current host for 1:135/0, it probably wasn't a routed netmail? ;-)

It was crashmail. He doesn't have a Fido uplink, and is trying to
contact me to provide him with one (he lives in my NC area so that's fine). I guess I could put a fake entry in my local nodelist/config to make it possible to reply, using the info you provided just below... but that isn't normal and I'm not likely to do that.

It was not. I have had someone else offer to forward my email address
to him so he could reply to me that way, so we'll see if he does that.

Normal would be, him using 1:135/999, and you put your reply on hold
for him to pick up.
But if you really want to reach him, the effort is very little...

Yes, I did do what you suggested and made a fake node config for that
node number, and we have successfully exchanged netmails. Thanks.

Ok, great. So we can expect a new node in the net 135 segment of
nodelist soon? ;-)
Bye, Wilfred.

Like you I am used to new nodes using /999 but Policy 4 mentions
/9999, do you know why the diffence?

Don't blame you, the stamp is more expensive than the envelope these
days.

Interesting.
Thatone belonged to a 'Burt Gibbs' from Miami and was dropped from the nodelist Jan.12th 2001 .... 25 years ago...

Sometimes it's a job.
A few weeks ago I jumped through some remarkable hoops to add a single node in R40 Israel.
Yup, and none of it works.
