Boeing has sold several digital subsidiaries, including its navigation division, Jeppesen. Thoma Bravo, an investor in software companies, is paying the American aircraft manufacturer over $10.5 billion for the sale.
Rumours already surfaced at the end of last year that Boeing wanted to divest itself of several subsidiaries to focus on its core business and reduce its debt burden.
Jeppesen, as well as ForeFlight, AeroData, and OzRunways, have now been sold. Several digital subsidiaries will remain in Boeing's hands. These are divisions focused on providing data to customers to keep their aircraft flying.
