We already have `inactive_user_email.js` and potentially other automated emails sent to users in the userbase (see issue #1220) - they should have the option to easily-opt-out of these emails.
I think the key is the `List-Unsubscribe` and `List-Unsubscribe-Post` header fields in the email with an appropriate web listener/handler that flags the user as having unsubscribed from future automated emails.
Some email clients (e.g. Apple's iPhone Mail app) makes this is one-click operation for the user.
