Looks like my x-bit bbs listing went away when i added unix-bit. Did i do it wrong? I still see it when i log in local to update/verify.
Went away from where? I still "unix-bit" at https://synchro.net/sbbslist.html if that's what you're referring to.

x-bit bbs, the one i've been running starting in 2001 is gone. I built a 2nd sync bbs the unix-bit a week ago.
I see "The X-BIT BBS" listed at https://synchro.net/sbbslist.html
So again... went away from where?

Went away from your bbslist.
Tried 3 different browsers, two different OSs, also in private mode.

The entry was listed at http://synchro.net/sbbslist.html yesterday, I checked: there were 2 entries: "The X-BIT BBS" and "unix-bit". Today, there's just "unix-bit". I look at the backups of the sbbslist.json, and I see the "The X-BIT BBS" was created on April-1st:
"imported": true,
"entry": {
"created": {
"on": "2025-04-01T16:27:26.463Z",
"by": "xbit",
"at": "XBITBBS"
},
"updated": {
"on": "2025-04-01T16:27:26.463Z",
"by": "xbit",
"at": "XBITBBS"
}
}
Which correlates with this event log entry:
2025-04-01 09:27:26 SMB2SBL xbit@XBITBBS creating new entry: The X-BIT BBS
And then it was removed because the BBS name appeared to be a duplicate: 2025-04-02 00:00:05 SBLMAINT unix-bit : Duplicated name
... so one of the entries (apparently "The X-BIT BBS") was removed.
"The " and " BBS" are removed from the BBS name before comaprison and so "X-BIT" was compared against "UNIX-BIT" and considered too similar and thus removed. I can fix that.

Looking closer at the code, it's actually the sevice address ("x-bit.org") not the name that's detected as a duplicate in the database and thus being de-duplicated. I was not expecting 2 completely different Synchronet BBSes to be using the same address. Can you consider creating/using a subdomain (e.g. unix.x-bit.org) instead? As an advantage, you could then use standard TCP ports.
