• Sending email with TBird.

From Grease@VERT/DARKMATT to All on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 21:09:34
If I connect to the bbs from work, I can send and receive with TBird from there.
If I am on the actual box, I use localhost as the POP server on port 110. I receive fine. It's when I want to send. I can't figure out the SMTP setting to send out. I've user darkmatt.synchro.net, localhost and even my regular email from yahoo. I've rtied port 25, 587, 465? None seem to work.
    Any ideas?

TCP port 587 is the normal submission port. Check that you didn't change this i your mail server configuration. By default, the mail server listens on *all* network interfaces (that includes localhost), so that should work when connecting from the same system. Check your mail server log output for these connections.

I will check out the mail server log when I try to send from TBird.
    Thanks!

This is what I got. It's got to be some setting I missed. Is there somethin in SCFG? I didn't do anything with that setup except set enable to YES.

You need to configure TBird to authenticate using your user name (alias) and password.
