In recent years, I've heard about schools in the US lowering their standards,
> part because they want to show that more students are passing & graduating.
Some school districts have done some bizarre things. A long time back
(so hopefully this has changed) they used to say that to get into a
higher end university course like medical or science, you needed an
80% average to be accepted.. But if you were Black, you only needed
60% and if you were Inuit, you only needed 40%..
As I say, that was many years ago but just last year my niece, who
is a teacher, was telling me that in her school the principal had
made new rules for class study and the Library content and there
were no books allowed with ANY white people in them. Period..
It's one thing to ban certain books or insist that everyone is
represented in the books they study but to totally ban whites?
Another thing, no sex education for young students EXCEPT for
Gay and Trans, which they were teaching to 5 and 6 year olds..
Again, include everyone but reverse prejudice is still prejudice.
And (IMHO) kids that young shouldn't be informed beyond saying
that some families may have 2 mommies or 2 daddies.
Fortunately that principal is now gone and it sounds like things
are getting more back to reasonable..
