From Dumas Walker@VERT/CAPCITY2 to All on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 13:06:52
    Good afternoon,
I just read where former Net 2320 sysop and hub Allen Prunty has passed away. Allen took over as hub after Janis moved out of state. I knew him from back in the late 80s or early 90s when we were both sysops in the GT Power Network, Net 010 in Louisville.

It looks like he also wrote/maintained a page or two on the synchronet wiki page.

Thought I would pass along the news just in case there were any sysops left who remembered him.

I think he was near my age, maybe a couple of years older. When we were younger, I thought he might be a hypocondriac but he did ultimately have a
few health issues that eventually got pretty bad.

I don't really know when he got into FIDO as I mostly remembered him back
then as a fellow GT Power sysop -- that was back when porting FTN to GT
would have been difficult. He later became my FIDO hub sometime well after Janis left the state. I took over the local net after he disappeared
    several years ago.

sad that she outlived her son.

I was not sure if the post I saw was from his Mom or someone else. A
mutual friend shared it with me. That is sad but happens more often than I think we like to think about.

I thought he did have an amputation but didn't want to mention that less I
was confusing him with someone else. Too many people near my age, or not
much older, having trouble to keep track of them all. :(

well if you have diabetes and you aren't taking care of it, you face amputation and death. there's no way out of it, people don't get lucky.
I think denial and stubbornness plays into it as well.
