Re: Installing LORD on Synchronet

Apologies if this has been asked a bunch of times already (I imagine it has someplace), but I am trying to work out the "preferred" way to install door games like LORD.
I am running my BBS on Linux, and from what I can gather I need to install DOSEmu version 1 (not version 2 as that has some compatibility issues)
However, when I try and compile dosemu 1 from source I get some issues with the configure script not being able to detect glibc (even though its newer that what it needs)
You can install pre-compiled dosemu binaries using apt-get if available, if you want to.
I'm running my BBS in Linux, and dosemu2 actually works generally well. I was initially using version 1, but TradeWars 2002 actually doesn't seem to work with version 1.. That's a popular enough door that I upgraded to dosemu 2 in order to be able to run TradeWars 2002 (and I've been seeing users playing that plenty of times).
Some doors do seem to have issues with dosemu2 - I've seen some doors (which worked with dosemu 1.x) run very slowly in dosemu2, though now I think I've replaced those doors on my BBS with an alternate door.
There's a Synchronet wiki article on how to get dosemu2 running:

And for dosemu1 if you're interested:
