I tried using the init-fido thing to install fidonet and get this..

Your load/fidoaddr.js file is old? The to_str() method was added to that library file back in 2020.

It sounds like you just downloaded/updated one (.js) file your exec directory. This is not how updates/upgrades are normally done.
