    Long ago the Bit Twister sent this

    My numberlock is not activating despite being set. Same
    for junk. It goes on and on...

    1. In /etc/sddm.conf... ↓

    [General]
    InputMethod=
    Numlock=on

    2. In Plasma's System Settings... ↓

    Hardware → Input Devices → Keyboard → NumLock on Plasma Startup
    Under Plasma,
    systemsettings5 => Input Devices => keyboard => Make sure it is set
    to a 105 key keyboard type as by default it is set to 86.
    Then, right under, set it to "Turn On" instead of "Leave unchanged".
    $ grep Numlock /etc/sddm.conf
    #Numlock=
    3. Optionally, still in System Settings:Keyboard, click the
    "Advanced" tab and click the "+" next to "Compatibility Options".
    Tick the box next to "Numeric keypad always enters digits (like in
    macOS".

    Thank you. I couldn't find the option indicated in step 3, but
    I made the settings indicated in steps 1 and 2. On the next
    boot, I'll be able to check if the settings will work.

    I hope they haven't changed it

    It's in System Setting used to be on the taskbar next to Control Center

    then it's Input Devices > Keyboard
    the first tab is "Hardware" where you select keyboard model and
    numlock
    The next setting is buried in the "Advanced" tab
